Sun invites you to join one or several of the Open Source projects that Sun is participating in. It's as easy as, well, using the Web, and you can find links to all of them on SunSource.net.
SunSource.net is Sun's family of Open Source, Community Source, and Standards Source projects. Each project has an associated website and community. By visiting these websites you can get a good idea of the range of projects going on, who the key players are, what sources and tools are available, the available mailing lists, the project's philosophy, and some idea of the culture that has evolved.
Each project's website explains how to get involved, either with an existing part or with a new one. Each project has a contact who will be happy to help you get started. And there is documentation and news items to help you become acquainted with all aspects of the project.
Getting involved can take many forms: You can just grab the applications and use them, you can look under the covers at the code to see how things work, you can make improvements or fix bugs, either for yourself or you can share them with the community. You don't need to be a programmer to offer suggestions, help with documentation, or do some testing.
We welcome your participation. By working together we can create software that is better for all of us.
